jay lifton

composer
Jay grew up in the comfortable suburbs of New York City where he was well-protected by his parents from anything bad ever happening to him. In the event that they ever see this bio, he wishes to make them aware he is most thankful for those halcyon days.

A shy but happy youth, he spent his free time playing piano, singing in bands, writing short stories, and avoiding sports. He now seeks to use his creative energy on projects concerning the very subject matter from which he was sheltered. This includes, but is not limited to: Shoplifting, drug abuse/addiction, prostitution, adultery, revenge, domestic strife, money problems, the mentally ill, bullying, and/or throwing food from high buildings.

On the music side, he has collaborated with DJ Kay Gee (Naughty By Nature), Usher, LL Cool J, and “Little” Steven Van Zandt. Jay is a graduate of Tufts University (BA) and The New England Conservatory of Music (MM).

My studio is just south of Union Square at Pulse Music, NY. A great neighborhood with plenty of subway access, shops, and restaurants, Union Square offers almost limitless procrastination options.
